MASHPEE ENVIRONMENTAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE <br /> MEETING MINUTES (ZOOM MEETING) <br /> NOVEMBER 4th, 2020- 6:30 P.M. <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL-16 Great Neck Road North <br /> *Virtual/Remote Meeting* <br /> *Public Call in Number: 1 646 558 8656 <br /> *(When prompted enter: Meeting ID # 822 1551 7665 Passcode 240604)* <br /> PRESENT: Katelyn Cadoret, Chad Smith, Andy Gottlieb, Halley Steinmetz(designee for Ashley Fisher) <br /> CALL TO ORDER Chairwoman Katelyn Cadoret called the meeting to order at 6:30pm. <br /> APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: September 9th,2020(tabled) <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> • VOTE IN NEW CHAIR/VICE-CHAIR and Introduce New Board Members (tabled) <br /> • Cape Cod Landscape Association Letter <br /> Ms. Cadoret presented a letter drafted to the Cape Cod Landscape Association. She will send the letter directly to <br /> the Association and the landscape companies we frequently see in Mashpee. The letter will be sent twice, now <br /> and again in the spring of 2021. It will be sent by both email and postal mail. <br /> Motion: Mr. Gottlieb moved to authorize the Chair to submit the letter to The Cape Cod Landscape <br /> Association,Mr. Smith seconded. <br /> Vote: 4-0 unanimous <br /> • October Town Meeting <br /> Ms. Cadoret recapped the results of the October Town Meeting. Specifically, the passing of the Municipal Plastic <br /> Bottle Ban, Jet Ski Ban on Ashumet Pond, $490K approved for the design/engineering of a sewer pipeline along <br /> Rte 151, and the Climate Change Emergency Declaration. The acquisition of Gooseberry Island was postponed. <br /> ACTION ITEMS UPDATE <br /> Mass. Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP): Update: The next action grant round will be in spring <br /> of 2021. Save Popponesset Bay did receive $400K to finish out work on their existing nourishment/seagrass planting <br /> grants. <br /> MEC and MCGAC Planning and Management: Update: There is a waitlist for the MCGAC 2021 season. Mr.Gottlieb <br /> mentioned there is a dedication ceremony to Michael Talbot at the garden on Tuesday,November 11, 2020 at 1 lam. <br /> Santuit Pond Remediation Efforts: A letter was sent to all abutters within 300ft of Santuit Pond to mitigate nutrient <br /> input into the ponds. <br /> DNR and PALS Pond & Estuary Water Quality Monitoring: Update: <br /> Pond Closure status: <br /> Cell counts last taken 11/2/20: <br /> Ashumet: 35 cells/rnl, no visible scum layer, the advisory can be lifted at this time. We have logged 2 weeks of clean <br /> testing at the public boat launch. (DPH requires 2 weeks clean before lifting any advisory.) <br /> Santuit: 125,000cells/ml, evident scum layer, advisory remains. <br /> Mashpee Wakeby: Advisory was lifted mid-October. <br /> Estuary Water Quality Report: <br /> Monthly sampling continues in our 4 sentinel stations in the Mashpee River, Popponesset Bay, Shoestring Bay, and Little <br /> River(Waquoit Bay). <br />
