Katelyn Cadoret; Application: <br /> Purchase of Active Cranberry Bog and Surrounding Upland for Freshwater Wetland Restoration <br /> and Water Quality Improvement of Santuit Pond: <br /> Mr. York indicated the Mashpee Conservation Department is seeking CPA funds to purchase a <br /> privately-owned 7-acre active cranberry bog adjacent to Santuit Pond. The project includes the <br /> purchase of several surrounding upland properties to encompass a total of 13.78 acres. <br /> The goal of this project is to improve the water quality in Santuit Pond through freshwater <br /> wetland restoration. The project would also create wildlife habitat and provide open space for <br /> recreation. The purchase of the bog and upland parcels would create a contiguous 20-acre area <br /> site for open space and passive recreation. <br /> The bogs would assist to capture phosphorus within Santuit Pond and mitigate nitrogen in the <br /> groundwater to diminish loading in Popponesset Bay. <br />
