Subsequent to this approval an error was noted by Ashley Fisher and it was manually
corrected and initialed by Chairman Bates.
Appointments & Information Sessions:
Ken Bates raised the issue from last month's meeting regarding the drop off at the end of the Ockway Bay
boat ramp that was caused by power loading. He mentioned that the MWC has put aside money for the
scrapping of the sand back into the depression. Ashley noted that the DPW planned to do the work on
5/31/2021. Ashley also said the we needed to look at a long term solution for the ramps serving
Popponesset Bay. She feels both the Ockway Bay and Mashpee Neck ramps need to be replaced. Ken
noted that MWC funds are only for scrapping at this point. At this point Gregg Fraser mentioned that
Falmouth has rented a long reach excavator from Plymouth County and they found it both cost effective
and highly efficient. Gregg further discussed the fact that the State has responsibility to maintain their
ramps and the contract with them should be checked to determine if Mashpee can make do the required
maintenance and bill the State. Ken Bates said he would work with Jeff Smith to follow up on this
suggestion. This session concluded with Jeff stating that he would like the MWC to seek expert advice on
assessing the condition of all our ramps and make some recommendations. Ashley supported this request
noting that she receives numerous complaints on our ramps.
Chairman Bates then asked for a status on the washout problem Ashley reported at our last meeting.
Ashley said that she has spoken to the DPW, who maintains it and will be going out to evaluate the
problem with Catherine Laurent. Ashley believes the short term fix, to be sure that rain water flow is
unrestricted, will be easy.
Communications & Correspondence:
None received.
