Minutes Mashpee Waterways Commission <br /> Mashpee Town Hall <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> Date: 5/11/2021 <br /> Chairman Ken Bates convened the meeting at 9:01 am via a Zoom conference call that he <br /> originated from Mashpee Town Hall. <br /> Attendees: Ken Bates, Don MacDonald, Tim Leedham, Al Wickel, Gregg Fraser, Dick Noonan. <br /> Also present: Ashley Fisher, Jeff Smith, Catherine Laurent <br /> Absent: Steve Mane <br /> Minutes: <br /> The Following minutes were approved: The regular session of Tuesday January 12, 2021. <br /> Motion to Approve made by Don MacDonald, seconded by Gregg Fraser. Unanimously <br /> approved by all those present. <br /> Appointments &Information Sessions• <br /> Ashley Fisher provided an update on the Ockway Boat ramp relative to the large holes that <br /> developed at the end of the ramp due to boat power loading. This required the hiring of <br /> Lawrence Lynch to scrape the area and fill in the holes. Ashley requested funds from the MWC <br /> to pay for the work and presented a bill for$1628. Ken noted that MWC has the funds in its <br /> Dredging & Engineering fund. Don MacDonald made a motion that we approve the transfer of <br /> funds on pay for the work completed. Al Wickel seconded the motion and it was unanimously <br /> approved by all those present. Ken will advise Terry Cook of the action. <br /> Catherine Laurent followed by providing an update on a project DPW is initiating to replace the <br /> Ockway Bay Ramp. Catherine explained that initially they thought that adding a Scour pad to <br /> the bottom of the ramp would be sufficient but after further review it was determined that the <br /> current ramp needs to be replaced. DPW working with DNR has filed an application to the <br /> Community Preservation Fund for$425,000 to fund this project.The hope is that CPC will <br /> approve the application and funds will be approved at the October Town Meeting and work can <br /> commence shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, to expedite the process DPW and DNR have filed an <br /> amendment on a pending Chapter 91 license for propagation floats to include the installation <br /> of the scour pads. Further discussion is needed on this project to determine what if any <br /> assistance MWC can provide. <br /> Communications&Correspondence: <br /> Ken noted that he has received notification of 7 proposed waterfront improvement projects. He <br /> will create a list and review with Jeff Smith. Jeff did note that he has provided Harbormaster <br /> input to all the projects he has received to date. <br /> Old Business: <br /> Harbormaster Repo <br /> Jeff reports the office has been very active. All buoys have been placed in the water. The office <br /> purchased 11 new buoys this off season and at this time 75% of our Town buoys are new. Jeff <br />
