will initiate a routine rotating replacement program going forward. He noted that swim buoys <br /> are ready to go and will be installed by Memorial Day. Maintenance is ongoing on all <br /> Harbormaster boats and all will be in the water by Memorial Day. Jeff has also started training <br /> for all seasonal employees and he presently has 2 billets open. <br /> Jeff reported that the new fee structure for moorings has been initiated for the upcoming <br /> season. The office has worked the current mooring wait list from 719 down to 250 names <br /> whom he believes are actively looking for a mooring. This year we will have a turnover of 28 <br /> moorings and Jeff believes the revenue outlook is on budget and funds should be available to <br /> contribute to the Waterways fund. <br /> Lastly, Jeff noted that the pump out boat will be out on the water each Saturday and <br /> Sunday.through Memorial Day then will be rotated between marinas. Hopefully this added <br /> accessibility will make a difference in waste disposal. <br /> DNR Director/Shellfish Constable Report. <br /> Ashley Fisher reported that both she and the Shellfish Constable have graduated from a State <br /> shellfish training program. She noted that the department has had to change shellfish areas <br /> based on mooring density. The department has also had to restrict overnight stays on boats in <br /> designated harbors in order to preserve the areas for shellfish. Ashley also noted that the <br /> department will be receiving 5 million quahogs in June <br /> Committee Reports: <br /> MashpeelWakeby, John's Pond and fresh waters: Don MacDonald stated that the Lake <br /> Committee still has not been able to meet. They do however continue to monitor lake water <br /> levels. <br /> Popponesset Bay Area: No report <br /> Waquoit Bay Area: No report <br /> Water Quality: Don reported that we are well along in organizing for the upcoming testing <br /> season. Boats have been secured and testing teams have been assembled. July 13th will be <br /> the first day of the testing season. We are currently working on a date to do training for the test <br /> teams. It will likely be held at the Ockway Boat ramp as it has proved to be a convenient place <br /> to conduct the session.. <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resources: <br /> Jeff Smith attended the last County Resources meeting as the DNR representative. He <br /> reported that a main topic of discussion was the challenges towns are having finding and hiring <br /> qualified staff. Also discussed were the challenges of dredging such as relocating equipment <br /> from site to site and time of year dredging restrictions. He also reported that some towns are <br /> concerned about crowds on the Cape and the stress it will provide on our natural resources. <br /> Barnstable County Dredge Committee: <br /> Ken reported that the Barnstable County Dredge Committee has been reformed with all Towns <br /> represented. Ken did not make the last meeting but does plan to attend the next meeting. He is <br /> in constant touch with the County Dredge Team. <br /> Ashley asked if Jeff Smith could attend these meetings. Ken responded he didn't see an issue <br /> if he was not able to attend. <br />
