Apparently, there was a disappointing disagreement amongst the Planning
Board regarding the panel of membership. Inappropriate remarks were also observed from the Town
Planner, and his Administrative Secretary that should have remained unbiased and professional in terms of
the manner those would expect from public officials.
In other business, Conservation Commission Chairman Chad Smith related concern regarding Article 7 of
the Annual Town Meeting warrant proposed for the construction of a sewer pumping station and required
appurtenances. The parcel is in conservation status under the mandates of Article 97, Any proposed use of
this parcel must be approved by the Conservation Commission. Mr. Smith indicated he was absent for the
vote and his dissenting position was not read into the record and in his opinion obstructively silenced. The
vote taken at the meeting was recorded with one abstention, Mr. Smith in closing stated the optics of this
maneuver is poor and every precedent that is set makes it easier to repeat, Mr. Smith is an opponent to the
proposal at this site location.
Dennis Gorczyca of 20 Shipwreck, Clippership Village spoke on behalf of the association in objection to
Article 7 of the Annual Town Meeting warrant, Mr. Gorczyca indicated the 2.7-acre parcel was acquired in
2015 under Article 97 in conservation status for the purpose of conservation and passive recreation. The
land abutting the Mashpee River woodlands was to be maintained as open space in perpetuity. The
association is supportive of the wastewater project, but not in favor of the proposed location for the sewer
pumping station, The Board of Selectmen was requested to remove Article 7 from the Town Meeting
warrant,
