7 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 26, 2021 <br /> Update from the Cape Cod Commission: Executive Director Kristy Senatori: (continued) <br /> The Cape Cod and Islands Water Protection Fund was created to award grant funding for water pollution <br /> abatements under the Clean Water Act, The program assists Cape Cod and the Islands in funding wastewater <br /> infrastructure and water quality remediation.projects. In April of this year $70 million in subsidies has been <br /> awarded. This includes the Town of Mashpee as a Qualified Project listed in the 2020 and 2021 Clean Water <br /> State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plans(IUP), <br /> The Cape Cod Commission has also shifted priorities and focus adapting to the new COVID-19 Health and <br /> Safety standards. This includes technical assistance and information of grant opportunities to improve <br /> infrastructure and transportation as well as assisting with the engagement of residents and businesses to <br /> design and execute shared streets and spaces to comply with new regulations. <br /> A community alert heat map system was developed to provide tools and valuable information. The Cape <br /> Cod COVID-19 Data Dashboard has provided demographic and economic data to those recovering from the <br /> impacts of the pandemic. The dashboards include demographics, unemployment trends, rooms and meals tax <br /> revenues, employment, housing and seasonality. <br /> Through data collection and analysis, the first ever Cape Cod Climate Action Plan has been initiated. <br /> Discussions through the process have been robust through collaborations with many stakeholders and <br /> partners. The action plan would detail policies and plans to reduce greenhouse gases, emissions, existing <br /> climate hazards and the tracking of progress. The plan is now seeking public comment. A model Coastal <br /> Resiliency Bylaw is also being designed to better manage climate change. <br /> Housing supply and demand is also under review. Through a series of surveys data is being collected to <br /> track home sales and second homeowners. <br /> In 2020 the Cape Cod Commission had its 301h year anniversary. The Board of Selectmen expressed <br /> appreciation to the Cape Cod Commission for their efforts to protect the Cape and the Islands, Ms. Senatori <br /> was recognized for her outstanding ability and leadership. <br /> In closing it was noted the OneCape Summit planned to be held in the fall. <br /> Discussion and Approval Santuit Pond MVP Grant Submission: Natural Resources Director Ashley Fisher: <br /> Ashley Fisher,Director of Natural Resources requested the Board of Selectmen approve the MVP program <br /> action grant submission to fund restoration efforts within the Santuit Pond Watershed, There is potential for <br /> this grant program to offer future phases for water quality restoration. <br /> This grant requires a 25% in-kind match consisting of staff time and water quality analysis, Mashpee TV, <br /> the Mashpee Warnpanoag Tribe and the Woods Hole Group have offered their services free of charge to <br /> submit this proposal on behalf of the Town of Mashpee. This may result in a net zero contribution for <br /> required grant match services. <br />
