Mashyee IncCusion and Diversity Committee
16C Ireat Neck PoadXorth
Mashy. ee, 'M-A 02649
food, distancing between groups, and you can dance in your spot. Ms. Wilson
acknowledges the state we are in has gotten better, but she still feels it is
premature, in her opinion.
Ms. Donovan asked Ms. Outchcunis if they had to go through their Board of
Health in Bourne. Her response was they had gone through the recreation
department but did not require approvals. She noted the numbers will not be a
problem, if people do not feel protected, they will not come. They will encourage
people to spread out and "if not now, when"? This year, in her opinion, is the year
to do this, the most important time, in fact!
Ms. Johnson-Graham noted between George Floyd to now there have been six
deaths, this event needs to happen this year. Majority of people are vaccinated,
and people can still be masked and still distance. This will not be difficult, it will
not be too big, but something we should do with everything happening. She will
follow up with Mashpee TV and would be seeing Ms. DeBoer in a meeting later
and will keep her apprised with happenings.
Chairwoman Stevenson mentioned she will be ending the meeting soon. She will
pursue dancing and music and is wondering if there could be some Tribal
drumming or a dance as well. Someone would need to read the proclamation and
ask a church leader to do a blessing. Until this is approved there can be no
publicity, earliest can be May 25 Ih The date of the event is Sunday, June 13 th
from 1p.m. to 3p.m.
Ms. Stevenson noted this will be the first event where MIDC will have a presence.
Not many people know much about MlDC. She is excited! Mr. Kupferman said
there is a Town access page for the Committee, but it does not get a lot of hits.
Ms. Donovan wished there were a small explanation of the meaning of Race
Amity during this meeting. Everyone was encouraged to watch the 8-minute Race
Amity Day video on https://raeeaMjly.o(g.
9
