Ms. Bradbury said she would speak with her offline.
Ms. Davis has one more idea. She put together a pamphlet for a previous Race
Amity Day. It consisted of four sheets of paper folded with the proclamation
written, schedule of events, and definition of race amity. She has the template all
set if that were something of interest. Ms. Davis wanted to ask businesses for
support/sponsorship. Ms. Stevenson said there was a brochure made for another
event that Ms. DeBoer was able to print in her office, which was very generous
and helpful. Ms. Davis said she will reach out to Ms. DeBoer.
Chairwoman Stevenson brings up another issue, there is no money. It was
discussed that the Committee cannot solicit money. People can donate, but we
cannot ask. Ms. Davis wanted clarification if she could have sponsors and not ask
for money. The exact parameters need to be investigated more in depth. Ms.
Stevenson was thinking about buttons and balloons, as there is access to a button
maker.
Ms. Outchcunis from Bourne suggested a banner or signs to bring attention to
event. She is not a fan of balloons as they are detrimental to wildlife. She
mentioned chalk drawings and music, music, music! Bring people in and get them
involved. Kids from the dance group can come and show families some dance
moves to get them involved. Chairwoman piggybacked off that idea by
mentioning line dancing and reaching out to the Zumba teacher to lead
instruction.
There was a question posed if the Board of Health would even allow events. In
Ms. Wilson's (Gail) opinion it is too soon. Ms. Bradbury interjected she has
already gotten approval for various events and in accordance with CDC as well as
Department of Public Health and Board of Health the guidelines currently state
250 people outdoors. Plans, precautions, and concerns are presented as well as
safety guidelines being proposed. i.e., encourage mask wearing, eating your own
8
