Nashpee IncCusion andDiversityCommittee
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
Ms. Stevenson said Race Amity has been around since 2015 in Massachusetts, really
hundreds of years. There is no way a new committee could have done this when MIDC first
started. She always wanted to do some big event, outside of Diversity Day, before Covid
happened. When you have a committee like this it really takes times, we have built all of
these relationships with people all over Town, that's why we are able to pull this off together.
Having the Superintendent of schools and Tribal representation, without them Ms. Stevenson
doesn't think this could have been pulled off. This gives us a future for other events with a
bigger vision.
The only thing that was purchased was a beautiful banner, 6ft. x 4ft. Mr. Kupferman donated
funds that The Enterprise pays him for his column.
Starting in July there will be a little bit of a budget. We cannot raise money ourselves, but we
can accept donations. Next year when we get into sponsors, we will look into this.
Mr. Kupferman suggested we plan ahead with the budget in a few months and start
submitting budget plants to the Town to see what they want to do.
Ms. Johnson-Graham added they should have a calendar on the Town site to allow people to
see what is going on.
Chairwoman mentioned a lot of towns were choosing Juneteenth which is the 19th and others
have chosen Pride month to celebrate, she is confident Race Amity was a good choice for
them.
Chairwoman will firm up the program with Ms. DeBoer in the next day.
Ms. Nadeau will take the current programs and cut off the front cover and will distribute to
places around Town. (Mashpee TV, Chamber of Commerce, School, Post Office, Town Hall,
etc.)
Cheyenne mentioned Art Honor Society having a table and asked if they should bring their
own to have a display of artwork. Ms. Johnson Graham will provide a table if they cannot.
Board of Selectman Approvals
On May 24th the Board of Selectman met and the proclamation was unanimously voted for
approval. It will get easier going forward, as this will be a yearly event. Submissions to the
Board of Selectman should be done earlier to allow more time for planning.
The date of the event is Sunday, June 13th from 1 p.m. to 3p.m. at Community Park.
5
