He advised Board members
that she was absent from the meeting due to a personal matter. The office is still getting
complaints, and are also starting to get calls from the senior population looking for information
on the vaccine. The bulk of those calls are being referred to the state website, but our office has
also explained that we"re waiting on details from DPH.
Mr. Harrington stated that the possibility of a regional clinic versus an inflated drive-thru type of
flu clinic was advisable, and suggested that the topic be included on the next meeting agenda. He
presented a scenario utilizing a set location., where Barnstable County and their nurses could be
supplemented with Town labor and help from the Community Health Center. Mr. Harrington
stated that, in addition to running notices on the website, newspaper and Mashpee TV, the plan
is to use reverse 911 calls to notify residents when we are ready to begin administering the vaccine
to the general public.
Chair Baumgaertel noted that the list of COVID complaints seemed longer than usual. r®
Harrington responded that it was likely due to the latest guidance and stricter requirements. Also,
many of the repeat complaints are because of medical exemptions, where customers observe
employees without masks due to medical exemptions, but there is no requirement for the
employee to give an explanation or proof of the exemption. A couple of complaints were related
to capacity limits at restaurants. Those establishments were educated about the 90-minute
maximum stay and the reduced seating capacity.
Mr. Harrington informed the Board that Mashpee's first responders would be immunized early
the following week in Sandwich. Mr. Virgilio commented that he heard some first responders are
not getting immunized, and asked if it is true that any unused doses of the vaccine get discarded.
Mr. Harrington responded that he spoke directly to the Fire Chief on this, and was assured that
people would be on stand-by to receive any leftover vaccine if there are first responders who do
not turn out.Chief Rullo will make sure to have that same discussion with Chief Burke in Sandwich,
so that no doses are wasted.
2.
