Also Present:
Brian Baumgaertel, Chair Glen Harrington, Health Agent
Veronica 'Warden,Mice-Chair Caitlin Cantella,Assistant Health Agent
Ernest Virgllilo, Clerk
Chair Brian Baumgaertel called the meeting to order at ?:oo PM, and stated for the record that Beard
members were participating remotely.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Review of Compliance—545 Cotuit Road. Mr. Harrington commented that, at the last meeting,
a continuance was granted to the next meeting scheduled for January 7t",to allow for the owner's
attorney to be in attendance. Neither the owner nor her attorney were available for that meeting.
Activities that have occurred since the last meeting included an on-site meeting with engineer
Peter McEntee,Charles Thompson of Indian Health Services, and septic installer Joey DeBarros to
discuss the septic system that will be redesigned and installed. The proposed system will consist
of a 1500-gallon H-10 monolithic septic tank that will replace a 1500-gallon septic tank that is six-
feet deep,in the ground. The system will also consist of an H-20 distribution box and a five-
bedroom soil absorption system (SAS). The new septic tank will be higher in elevation, as an
ejector pump will be installed in the basement to service a basement bathroom. An effluent tee
filter will be installed in the outlet of the septic tank to mitigate the effects of the ejector pump.
Raising the system with the assistance of the ejector pump will allow the rest of the system to be
kept within three feet of grade. This is considered new construction, as it is an increase in flow
from 4to 5 bedrooms,
Mr. Harrington advised the Board that the owner had requested another continuance to allow
her attorney to get up to speed.
Chair Baumgaertel asked if there had been any progress on the egress issues, and Mr. Harrington
answered that the owner had found a contractor to do the work and is in the process of trying to
get funding. Indian Health Services will pay for the new septic system, but not for renovations to
bring the bedrooms into compliance. Ms. Warden asked if the owner was given the info on the
USDA, ,and Mr. Harrington answered in the affirmative, stating that the owner would likely be
ineligible due to the low income threshold.
1
