Town Of Nashpec <br /> Z.B )t"iCCtf cot1' t"i`2t,.SlOt2 <br /> ry ►v►u1311Ncc, 1v1ua.3ut 11U.3CLu v4v*_7 <br /> A'k Telephone - (508) 539-1438 <br /> MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting—June 10, 2021 <br /> Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava Costello, Chair, at 4:20 pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Richard DeSorgher, Nancy Soderberg and Brian Weeden - <br /> Rosemary Burns Love and Joan Tavares-Avant available by phone. <br /> Commissioners not Present: Brian Hyde <br /> War Memorial Monument <br /> Richard is waiting to hear from Catherine Laurent who is trying to get additional bids to see if we can <br /> reduce the additional costs for engraving of the monument by the present contractor, VHB. <br /> Cemeteries <br /> The DPW Director, Catherine Laurent, will check with Massachusetts Historical Commission to see if we <br /> can have the damaged gravestones reinstalled and cleaned. Rosemary said to look up Massachusetts <br /> General Laws, Chapter 40, which covers the rules on how to handle gravestones in cemeteries <br /> Schoolhouse <br /> Richard reported that the Schoolhouse has been cleaned, and he is getting ready to open it for tours <br /> beginning in July. He will check with the Town Hall to find out what the rules will be for visitors coming <br /> into the Schoolhouse regarding vaccinated visitors and touching the artifacts and other materials in view <br /> of remaining Covid 19 restrictions. <br /> Planning Board Meeting <br /> Ava attended the Planning Board meeting <br /> Parsonage <br /> David Weeded has carefully inspected the property. He felt that it had been constructed of a very hard <br /> wood, perhaps oak. Ava expressed that she thought a dendrochronology study should be done on both <br /> the Parsonage and the Indian Museum. Rosemary reported that she had carefully documented the <br /> history of the Indian Museum which has been printed in her book Mashpee in Words and Pictures. <br />
