-2-
have complete records of all the cemeteries. Richard thinks we should look at them all to assess what
needs to be repaired. MOTION voted and passed - Unanimously.
PARSONAGE- Rosemary thinks we ought to hire the expert from the Oxford Dendrochronology
Laboratory to do the service. Rosemary feels that the MHC should get the building dated before the
Town spends $400,000 to rebuild it. The approximate costs to date a building would be from $1500-
$2500. It was proposed that the MHC send a letter to both the Town of Mashpee and the Tribal Council.
MOTION: Richard made a Motion to get permission to date the wood on the Parsonage, and there are
funds available in our donation accounts to cover the costs. Rosemary seconded the motion. It was
voted and passed — Unanimously.
Preservation of TROUT POND COTTAGE
Are we still interested in preserving the Trout Pond Cottage as a MCOC distribution center for their
brochures? Brian Hyde would rather pursue moving that building. Rosemary said that it was part of the
motel that was opened there in the late 40s and has no real historical significance. Brian Hyde
expressed that Mashpee Commons will probably tear it down. Rosemary is not interested in that
building, but she would agree with the majority, and all agreed.
PRESERVATION AWARDS -We will bring up this topic at our next meeting.
Brian Weeden brought up that the Andrew Lipnosky Trust has donated all three Islands (Keith, Jefferson
and Cleveland) to be preserved for all time. Richard thinks we could consider this donation for the 2019
award. Richard thinks that both the former owners and the new owners should receive our award.
Brian Weeden thinks that we should have a nomination process for Historical Preservation Awards, and
suggested that we put it out to the public, maybe a Zoom meeting, in order decide on these awards.
HORATIO AMOS HOUSE
Brian Hyde talked about the builder, Mr. Fox, who is preserving the Horatio Amos house on Great Neck
Road, South. Mr. Fox would like to come to talk to us about his plans for restoring the building.
Meeting adjourned at 5:30pm.
Respectfully submitted
Ann Graham, Sr. Clerk
