We have looked at repurposing the low shelves on the second floor <br /> for magazines in order to utilize the current periodicals wall differently. <br /> • Other building areas - the paint on the walls could use touch ups in some places but <br /> overall the building looks very good for 10 years. The dedication plaque on the outside of <br /> the building may need to be redone with the development of the new Town seal. <br /> • ADA standards -there is a Library Services and Technology Act grant available that we <br /> could apply for to perform building updates. An assessment of the library would be <br /> needed before applying for the grant. <br /> • CLAMS will be rolling out a new Capira mobile app that will offer self checkout and <br /> other updated features. <br /> • Technology-the iPads donated by the Friends in 2016 are reaching the end of their life. <br /> Due to the Coronavirus, Cape Cod Community College may suspend in-person classes and if <br /> they do, we can expect students coming to the library to use our computers and laptops. Mashpee <br /> Schools are operating as business as usual. CLAMS and the Town are taking the lead on <br /> preparations/precautions. The Library will put together web posts promoting online resources <br /> that can be accessed from home in the event patrons are quarantined. <br /> Upcoming services: AARP Tax-Aide, Census, Sustainability/Environmental programs. We are <br /> working on replacing the water fountains with refillable water bottle dispensers. <br /> Friends of the Library Report <br /> The Friends are doing well and are planning events. Possibilities are a garden show, ladies night <br /> out, a comedian, and are looking for new ideas. There is $178,000 in the endowment fund and <br /> $20,000 has been raised from last year's annual appeal. <br /> Policy Updates: Discussion of Public Comment Policy <br /> A new policy written by Joan Lyons and Ann Macdonald was reviewed. Virginia Scharfenberg <br /> motioned to adopt the new policy as written on March 10, 2020. Matt seconded the motion.
