We have looked at repurposing the low shelves on the second floor
for magazines in order to utilize the current periodicals wall differently.
• Other building areas - the paint on the walls could use touch ups in some places but
overall the building looks very good for 10 years. The dedication plaque on the outside of
the building may need to be redone with the development of the new Town seal.
• ADA standards -there is a Library Services and Technology Act grant available that we
could apply for to perform building updates. An assessment of the library would be
needed before applying for the grant.
• CLAMS will be rolling out a new Capira mobile app that will offer self checkout and
other updated features.
• Technology-the iPads donated by the Friends in 2016 are reaching the end of their life.
Due to the Coronavirus, Cape Cod Community College may suspend in-person classes and if
they do, we can expect students coming to the library to use our computers and laptops. Mashpee
Schools are operating as business as usual. CLAMS and the Town are taking the lead on
preparations/precautions. The Library will put together web posts promoting online resources
that can be accessed from home in the event patrons are quarantined.
Upcoming services: AARP Tax-Aide, Census, Sustainability/Environmental programs. We are
working on replacing the water fountains with refillable water bottle dispensers.
Friends of the Library Report
The Friends are doing well and are planning events. Possibilities are a garden show, ladies night
out, a comedian, and are looking for new ideas. There is $178,000 in the endowment fund and
$20,000 has been raised from last year's annual appeal.
Policy Updates: Discussion of Public Comment Policy
A new policy written by Joan Lyons and Ann Macdonald was reviewed. Virginia Scharfenberg
motioned to adopt the new policy as written on March 10, 2020. Matt seconded the motion.
