9. MPS District COVID-19 Health Coordinator, Stacey Schakel: <br />Ms. Schakel updated the committee on the district's current health and safety needs including: COVID-19 <br />protocols, testing, vaccinations, etc., flu shot clinics, and National Drug Take Back Day. <br />10. Report of the Superintendent: <br />Professional Development Update (9/27 Half Day; 10/8 PD Day)--PFS Pillar 3: refer to newsletter <br />Staff engaged in Anti Defamation Training at Mashpee Middle High School on September 27th while <br />Quashnet worked on DESSA screenings, ST Math, and held curriculum meetings and Coombs School worked on <br />DESSA screenings and SEL protocols. Educators participated in a professional development day on October 8th <br />when teams analyzed student performance data collected from various sources. The goal of this day was to <br />identify deficit skills across grade -level or department, look for trends in the data to determine hypotheses of why <br />the deficits are there, and then engage in the problem -solving process to develop action steps to address these <br />areas. Professional development is being tied to the Plan for Success. <br />Enrollment and Personnel Updates: <br />Superintendent DeBoer shared updates on new hires,transfers and retirements. <br />School Year 21-22 Update including Administrator updates: <br />Outreach Coordinator and Athletics Report in packet (pages 8-11) <br />Dr. Goulart shared that MFD Firefighter Leonard Goldman visited students to teach them about fire safety. <br />School Resource Officer, Katie Hennessey has been teaching students about being safe and the role of a police <br />officer. <br />Ms. O'Brien discussed the flag raising event that took place at Quashnet School, as well as after school clubs <br />and the Scholastic Book Fair. <br />Mr. Balestracci reported that 70% of the Class of 2022 are submitting early action college applications and <br />thanked the Guidance Department for their work in ensuring all students have this opportunity. He stated that <br />extra -curricular clubs and additional academic support have been taking place during period 8. <br />Chronic absenteeism: <br />Superintendent DeBoer reported that attendance communications have been sent to families so that a collaborative <br />problem -solving process can begin. There is concern about absenteeism at the beginning of the school year and <br />how that can impact the rest of the school year. <br />Acknowledgements: <br />Superintendent DeBoer recognized Paul Colligan from Panera of Mashpee and Kim Bohenberger from <br />Cape Cod Coffee for their donations to the Homecoming Dance and to the residents of the Southport Community <br />for selecting the Quashnet School library as the recipient of donations received during their Fall Book Festival. <br />Planning is underway for Native American Awareness Week taking place November 15th-November 19th. <br />Superintendent's FY22 Goals: <br />Superintendent DeBoer shared her goals for FY22. These goals are aligned with the District's Four Pillars of Success. <br />These goals were reviewed with the Superintendent Evaluation subcommittee. The Superintendent will provide a share -out <br />and evidence in the Spring. <br />Superintendent's Proposed FY23 Budget Narrative: <br />The Superintendent presented her proposed FY23 budget and reviewed the internal process for its development. <br />
