,try <br /> lown ofNashpee jbstorical Commission <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> Telephone - (508)539-1438 <br /> MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting— October 21, 2021 <br /> Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava Costello, Chair, at <br /> 4:10 pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Richard DeSorgher, Brian Hyde, Brian Weeden, <br /> and Rosemary Burns Love (telephoned in) <br /> Commissioner not Present: Nancy Soderberg, Joan Tavares-Avant <br /> Ava Costello made a motion that the Minutes from September 23rd meeting be <br /> approved as corrected, and it was seconded by Brian Hyde. Brian Weeden abstained. <br /> Veterans Monument <br /> Richard and Ava have been working with Catherine who has been trying to get bids for <br /> the engraving for the monument, but up to this date, she has not had any. Bids for the <br /> cement came in at $57,000. If the bid for the engraving names into the granite comes in <br /> over the available funds, we will have to apply for more CPA funding in the spring. <br /> Parsonage <br /> Cheryl O'Malley came to view the Parsonage and felt that they could get the work done <br /> on that building. We are working on having The Dendrochronology Lab from the UK do <br /> the work during the Thanksgiving holiday week. <br /> Schoolhouse <br /> Brian will apply for CPA funding to cover the cost of purchasing an AC wall unit. . <br /> Richard agreed to contact the Quashnet School to find out about whether or not the fall <br /> tours for the 5th grade students could still be arranged. Richard informed us that David <br /> Weeden is the contact on the Indian Museum part of the school tours. We discussed <br /> the schoolhouse model that we have that was made to scale by students at the <br /> Quashnet elementary school under the direction of Sean O'Connor, a 6t" grade teacher. <br /> He announced that we also have a new Treasurer on the Board. Brian questioned <br /> whether or not the Schoolhouse was ever put on the State Register of Historic places. <br />
