Harvey Cohen inquired'as to the location of the septic <br />system being problematic. <br />The Chairman echoed her concerns (from the previous <br />meeting) about building in the open space easement. Her <br />major concern is for setting a precedent and preserving and <br />protecting the open space as it is intended, to remain open <br />space in this -subdivision. <br />Lee Gurney made reference to the proposed alternatives <br />to the plan, asking if the Applicant had consulted an <br />architect. Ir. Westman responded, "No". <br />Lee Gurney stated she feels that an architect might be <br />able to suggest further alternatives/options to t'he plan, <br />allowing the proposed addition to be constructed within the <br />homeownerfs property boundaries. <br />Lee Gurney also expressed her concern for proposed <br />loss of open space land. she stated that she would not be <br />able to support the proposal as presented. <br />Dennis Blaii made a suggestion to relocate the <br />existing deck area in order to accommodate the proposed <br />addition. <br />Mr. Westman objected, stating "I would lose my -whole <br />view of my living room and dining room area". <br />The chairman stated she could not support this <br />proposal, as it would result in encroaching into the <br />restricted open space area. She does not want to be party <br />to setting a precedent for future requests. <br />Both the Town Planner and Harvey Cohen suggested a <br />third bedroom be constructed on the second story of the <br />home. <br />Mr. Westman responded,. ,.Construction wise, it would be <br />very, very difficult". <br />The Town Planner clarified to the Board that the <br />natter at hand is a modification to a subdivision plan to <br />eliminate a buffer. He is unaware of any other <br />subdivisions within the Town of Mashpee that have been <br />
