.t
Mr. Ojala made reference to the zoning requirements
surrounding the buildings, stating he has created a 20-ft.
area from the buildings, which areas will be staked off,
which will prove to determine those trees within the area
for preservation, those significant trees recommended by
Staff located outside of those areas, as well -as grade
change determinations . He suggested this- process be
followed one section- at a time as the staking and tree
locati n identiftcaticn is time consuming, and should be
accomplished as part of the overa-11 landscaping procedure .
The Town Planner reiterated the reed to indicate those
areas of -inches of fill, as well as where there will be
cutting on the plan. The trees in the field are to b
numbered at which time the arborist can determine which
trees can be- saved. He suggested that those areas between
to f t. and 20 ft. from the buildings be identified and
inspected by the Planning Board for preservation.
r. Quinn objected to the previous speaker' s
suggestion stating the difficulties involved in trying to
work/clear within 10 ft. of- a building. He also mentioned
_ possible daMg g o the _f oundation- .and- builc i.-ngs . -He- -
mentioned the canopy of large trees overhanging the
building, as well as compromisingthose trees located along
the side of the buildings.
The Chairman them recognized Mr. Bornstein who
described the soil as being sandy, requiring sloping to
prevent cave-in. The s,l.opi.ng occurs 10 ft. to 15 f . from
the foundation. He stated every effort would be made to
save any significant trees .
Steve Dolan made reference to the fact that Applicant
has received a to bonus on the original special permit,
stating the onus is on the Applicant to make everything
work out.
The Town Planner' indicated the rear and side
driveways, noting there only remain a few areas between 1
t. and 20 ft. from the buildings. He suggested the -matter
be addressed within the Decision on a phase by phase basis,
four buildings at a time, flag the trees, prepare a grade
change plan, assess the remaining trees and sage as many as
possible .
