Board ofSelectmen
Minutes
February 2 , 2004
M.MR ISSUES;
CS-10 Plume,Update:
Michael l inior, 1 MR was present to update the Selectmen on the TCE
detection in monitoring well OOMWO584A east of John's Pond. The
AFCEE is formalizing a plan that will be presented to the EPA and DEP
next week. Several proposals include testing the Southport irrigation well
in March, sampling the Mashpee Water District sentry wells that are
down-gradient of the monitoring well also in March and recommending
the installation of additional monitoring wells in the area to better track the
situation In the future. The matter is expected to be brought before the
Board of Selectmen at their next meeting.
It was noted that notification was mailed to all thirty-four homeowners
that have private wells in the area. They will be contacted by AFCEE
with regards to testing. The AFCEE does not believe that this situation
poses an imminent public health threat to area residents with private wells
or to the Mashpee Water District supply wells. Mr. Minior indicated that
the TCE has been detected approximately 2 ' below ground.
Information is expected to be disseminated to applicable parties when it
becomes available.
