Formal Acceptance of Joy Street (Map 1 <br /> The Town Planner explained Joy Streetis the brick <br /> walkway between the buildings at South Cape- Village . Joy <br /> Street is shown on the site plans for the Special Permit <br /> project . The Town Clerk ha%s -assigned street addresses to <br /> the buildings along the walkway as Joy Street and i <br /> seeking a formal approval from the Planning Board. He also <br /> suggested a formal approval for So.uth Street through the <br /> Public Hearing process. <br /> MOTION: Lee Gurney made a motion to schedule a. Public <br /> Hearing for April 18, 2007 at 7 : 10 for the formal <br /> acceptance of Joy Street and South Street, South Cape <br /> Village; which Lotion was duly seconded by Myrna Nuey and <br /> se voted unanimously. <br /> Proposed lashpee Historic District <br /> Preliminary Study Report <br /> The Town Planner explained that in 1997 an Historic <br /> District Study Committee was created in order to <br /> investigate whether it would be appropriate to designate a <br /> local historic district under the State statue in the Lain. <br /> Street area. A grant from the Cape Cod C rrnission was <br /> obtained for the purpose of hiring a consultant, Public <br /> Archaeology Laboratory (PAL) . <br /> Haring gone through the statutory process, a Public <br /> Meeting was conducted last fall with the residents of the <br /> proposed district in attendance. The response was <br /> favorable, no one expressed opposition. <br /> preliminary study report h-as been prepared outlining <br /> the reasons to support an historic district. Information on <br /> the historic buildings were included based upon work <br /> completed by PAL, as well as a recommended boundary, and <br /> list of owners. Said study report was filed with the State <br /> Historic Commission for comment. Their staff report <br /> recommended that several buildings within the proposed <br /> district are less than 0-years old, as well as a lot of <br /> vacant property. <br /> The Committee submitted an Article for the May Town <br /> Meeting Warrant authorizing the establishment for the <br /> creation of an historic district and commission.
