roads- with similar names throughout Pae and your wish
to correct this problem" .
The Town Planner informed the Board .that he has
received phone calls from the residents of both houses that
strongly obj-ect to the name change.
The Chairman then recognized Michael Talbot, 3 Pequot
Avenue, Mashp e, who read the following letter addressed to
Thomas Fudal a, Beve-rly Kane and the Maspee Planning Board
"The Fire Department wants to change thename of Pequot t
Lori Lane. It stands to reason that there is a Pequot Road
that can cause confusion, but there are many streets in
I ashpee with duplicate names such as Alden circle, Alden
Lane, East Road, East Way, W mpanoag Avenue and Wampanoag
Drive, to give examples. We lure at 3 Pequot Avenue and
our house was the first one built on this road. We bought
the land over seven years ago. We strongly protest the
proposed name hange to Dori Lane a full six years after
the house was built. We are established at this address,
e paid for the street sign for the cross street, sassacus
Avenue, and our. neighbors Harold and Peggy Demone paid for
the Pequot Avenue sign. If the Town wanted to charge the
street name so as, not to have duplicate roads named Pequot
they should have done it at the t1me the first house- was
built . There i no logic to it so late in the game. A
name change would cause great confusion, no one would be
able to find us on a map because the new name would not be
on a reap directory. We have had occasion to call an
ambulance here and the Fire Department and ambulance crews
were Mere within minutes and with no confusion. We have a
home office for -our company, actually we run several
businesses, ray wife is also a consultant and runs her
office from this address, and her letterhead has our street
name on it and we receive a large number of deliveries . We
would have to deal with a street name change for said
deliveries and with the RMV, new driver' s licenses, change
information for medical providers, utilities, etc. I
estimate that the time and expense for us would- be over
$3, 500 . 00 to change the name to something else. "
Harold Deone, 4 Pequot Avenue, Ia.shpee - Explained to
the Board that he and his wife own the property, but do not
reside at this address, their special needs daughter does.
He read the following into the record: "As the owners
of 4 Pequot Avenue we strongly protest the proposed name
4
