We purchased the land and built a home for our retarded dauhter at that address . The name of the street was irrelevant to us at that time, but then we. began a- series of official and personal actions regarding the Pequot Avenue address. We went through all of the building requirements using this as the official name of our new construction. We landscaped the property and three people moved in including our retarded daughter, another retarded young woman, and a house mate/hou-se mother. The douse was planned for three people, it has three bedrooms and three full adjoi-ning baths, a large center living/dining room, an oversized kitchen, laundry/mud room, and attached garage. A full basement is included, a front covered porch and rear deck completes the dwelling. The design is all one floor to accommodate the disabled. In serving the retarded on the cape and South shore, the State Department of Mental Retardation contracts with Community S-ystems, Inc. , a cape Cod based non-pro-fit agency, which manages the property, staff, and the program. For the record, we remind you that 4 Pequot Avenue is a home constructed for the disabled and that there are Federal and state laws aftd regulations and a recent U. S. Supreme court decision protecting the disabled from discrimination. "
