MASHPEE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
DECISION FOR A SPECIAL PERMIT
Owner of record: First Citizens Federal Credit Union
SP-2011-28
Ms. Ann Lawson of 136U Shellback Way asked to see the plans. She said that
she was concerned about the excessive amount of street signs being proposed on the
subject property. Mr. Nelson explained that the Petition involves the building signs, not
additional street signs. Consequently, Ms. Lawson said that she isn't opposed to the
proposal.
Ms. Eleanor Olson of 117R Shellback Way inquired why the bank needs another
sign. The Board explained to her that the Petitioner is not asking for permission to install
another sign. She looked at the plans and said she has no problem with the proposal.
GENERAL FINDINGS:
The subject property is located at 71 Jobs Fishing Road and consists of 1.100 acres of
land.
SPECIAL PERMIT CRITERIA
174-51.B. Except where permitted or proposed as part of development for which a
Special Permit has been issued by, or is required from, the Planning Board, any new sign
exceeding twenty (20) square feet, and any awning sign, shall require a Special Permit
from the Zoning Board of Appeals, in accordance with Article VI.
SPECIFIC FINDINGS:
The Board determined that:
1. the Petition has received Design Review Committee approval.
2. the Petitioner meets the criteria for grant of a Special Permit.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, the Zoning Board of Appeals voted
unanimously at the Public Hearings on July 13, 2011 to grant a Special Permit allowing
for two signs on the building to exceed 20 square feet each. This is conditioned upon
compliance with Beaumont Sign Company plan for First Citizen's Federal Credit Union
dated 3/11/11.
2
