Notice was given by publication in The Mashpee Enterprise, a
newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Mashpee, on November 19, and
November 26, 2010, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
A Public Hearing was held on the Petition at the Mashpee Town Hall on
December 8, 2010. The following members of the Board were present and acting
throughout: Board Members Jonathan Furbush, William Blaisdell, James Reiffarth,
John M. Dorsey and Associate Board Member Peter R. Hinden.
The Mashpee Zoning Board of Appeals issues this Decision pursuant to the
provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40A §10 and the Town of Mashpee
Zoning By-laws.
Mr. Tragiannopoulos represented his Petition and stated that the proposed
structure will serve as storage and as a personal hobby shop to sandblast, an activity
which he enjoys. He said that the sandblasting is not a year-round hobby, because the
structure will be used to store a boat and a mobile home. Mr. Tragiannopoulos said that
he is going to the expense of installing a garage out of consideration for his neighbors
and to mitigate any potential noise or dust from disturbing them. Plans call for
installation of special thermal fiber sound deafening insulation, as well as interior 5/8"
plywood.
A letter in favor of the proposal from Cape Cod Camp Corporation, the abutter
most directly affected by the proposal, was submitted to the Board. Letters in favor of
the proposal from direct abutters residing at 581 Main Street, 587 Main Street and 599
Main Street were also received.
