Mashpee Zoning
Board of Appeals Minutes
1 August 26, 2009
Zoning Board of Appeals
Minutes — Wednesday, August 26, 2009
The Mashpee Zoning Board of Appeals held a Public Hearing
on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Mashpee Town Hall.
Board Members Robert Nelson, Jonathan Furbush, James
Reiffarth and William Blaisdell were present. Alternate
member Peter Hinden was present. Board member John
Dorsey was absent.
Robert Nelson opened the hearing at 7:00 p.m.
• . New Public Hearings
Jeffrev L. Shames: Requests a Special Permit from Sections 174-17 and 174-
24c of the Zoning By-laws in order to alter and expand a pre-existing non-
conforming structure on property located in an R-3 zoning district at 21
Bowsprit Road (Map 105 Parcel 226) Mashpee, MA.
Sitting: Robert Nelson, Jonathan Furbush, James Reiffarth, William Blaisdell and
Peter Hinden.
Attorney Christopher Kirrane (replacement for Attorney Kevin Kirrane)
represented the applicant at this continued hearing. Jerry Darrah Polemus,
Architect is also present for the applicant. The Board asked the applicant to
come back and present the new plans showing the boardwalk being changed to
accommodate parking and the removal of approximately 35 square feet of
proposed expansion in order to reduce the lot coverage to the agreed upon
number of 23.5%. The original lot coverage was 23.2% and the board felt they
could live with an increase of .2% in this case. Attorney Kirrane informs the
Board that they removed about 50 square feet and changed the angle of the
boardwalk to accommodate 4 cars. Mr. Nelson mentions the difficulty they may
• have getting out of the driveway — however — that is the problem of the
homeowner.
