• Zoning Board of Appeals
Minutes
February 8, 2007
It was disclosed the applicant has begun dialogue with the Mashpee Water
District. The applicant indicated he would present a summary of the past
minutes to the ZBA Board. Issues to be addressed in future Water District
meetings include the size and location of the pumping station, water
pressure, volume and related requirements for the fire sprinkler
suppression system. The availability of water to the site was not deemed
an issue. The ZBA Board agreed to request written correspondence from
the Water District that would stipulate their approval of the project
proposal that would also hold harmless any liability to the Town of
Mashpee.
As noted, the appraisal is complete and has been submitted to the ZBA
Board and Special Counsel for additional review.
John Slavinsky, Cape & Islands Engineering presented modified plans of
the Mashpee Woods residential area dated January 29, 2007 to the ZBA
Board. The following issues were discussed; .
• The Phase V building unit has been moved closer to the cul de sac. Each
building has been reconfigured in distance to be closer to the parking areas
for fire safety. Sidewalks are 5' in width. Handicap parking areas are
designed.
Newly proposed is a compaction dumpster unit depicted at a centralized
location to the eastern end of the subject property. The trash compactor to
be used by all residential units will be surrounded by fencing and set on a
concrete slab. Trash pick up is proposed on a monthly vs. weekly basis.
The beneficial aspect of recycling was discussed. It was noted the Board
of Health is working on a firm policy for recycling. Recycling initiatives
would most likely occur in the area of the compaction dumpster behind the
intended fenced area. It was agreed recycling would follow the guidelines
stipulated by the Board of Health.
Information was presented to the ZBA Board regarding a zone study
related to current noise zone compatibilities. In accordance to the Air
Installation Compatible Use Zone Study for the Otis Air National Guard
Base dated September 2005, the subject site lies within a 65 decibel level
noise contour surrounding the current runways.
0
