Architectural style is not restricted, but Colonial,Neo-Classical and Cape Cod vernacular are <br /> recommended and encouraged. Evaluation of the appearance of a building shall be based on <br /> the quality of its design and relationship to surroundings. <br /> 2. Buildings shall be of appropriate scale and be in harmony with permanent neighboring <br /> development. <br /> a. Building components, such as windows, doors, eaves and parapets shall hove <br /> appropriate proportions and relationships to one another. <br /> b. Materials shall be selected for suitability to the setting, environment and style of <br /> buildings and shall be selected for harmony of the building and adjoining buildings <br /> and the design in which they are used. Materials used for all building walls <br /> and other exterior building components wholly or partly visible from public ways shall <br /> be architecturally harmonious with the buildings surrounding it. <br /> C. Materials shall be of durable quality. <br /> d. In any design in which the structural frame is exposed to view,the structural materials <br /> shall be compatible within themselves and harmonious with their surroundings. <br /> 3. Colors shall be harmonious and shall use only compatible accents. <br /> 4. Mechanical equipment or other utility hardware on roofs, at ground level or on buildings may <br /> be required to be screened from view at the street level with materials harmonious with the <br /> building or they shall be so located as not to be visible from any public ways when viewed from <br /> street level. <br /> 5. Exterior lighting shall be part of the architectural concept. Fixtures and all exposed accessories <br /> shall be harmonious with building design. <br /> 6. Refuse and waste removal areas, service yards, storage yards and exterior work areas shall be <br /> screened from view from public ways with screening masses compatible to the.building design. <br /> Monotony of design in single or multiple building projects shall be avoided. Variation of detail, form and <br /> siding shall be used to provide visual interest. <br /> The following factors and characteristics, which affect the appearance of a building, shall govern the <br /> evaluation of an application: <br /> 1. Preservation of natural landscaping <br /> 2. Conformance to ordinances/Design Code. <br /> 3. Logic of design. <br /> 4. Exterior space utilization. <br /> 5. Architectural character. <br /> 6. Attractiveness and beauty. <br /> 7. Material selection. <br /> 8. Conformity and compatibility with existing architectural styles. <br /> 9. Traffic circulation—vehicular and pedestrian. <br /> 10.
