I'
Sitting: Edward Govoni, Robert Nelson and Marshall Brem.
Mr. Salvario Maldani represents the petitioner and requests that a permanent sign replace
the temporary sign in front of Christ the King Church on subject property. There is a
picture of the sign in the file for review. The sign proposed is a 4x8 square foot structure
and exceeds the 20 square feet allowed by the current zoning by-laws. Petitioner is
before the Board to ask for a 12-foot variance and a special permit to erect the sign.
Petitioner has been through the Design Review Committee and they have no problems
with the sign. Marshall mentions that the sign could have been made within the allotted
square footage and questions why it was not. There does not appear to be any answer.
Mr. Maldani tells the board that the sign will be up for 6-8 more weeks, taken down and
then put up again just before lent. This will continue for 2 I/2 years. Mr. Brem feels that
had the church known the sign could not exceed 20 square feet, it should have made the
sign 4x5 instead of 4x8. Also, since the sign is temporary and cannot remain for more
than 30 days, action needed to be taken. There are no comments from abutters. Marshall
i
