SP-99-8 99 Nathan Ellis Highway <br /> Map 67 Block I <br /> A Petition was filed on December 15, 1998 by the Boys& Girls Club of Cape <br /> Cod, Inc. for a Special Permit under Section 174-25.B.8 of the Zoning By-laws for <br /> permission to construct a Boys& Girls Club Community Center building on property <br /> located at 99 Nathan Ellis Highway (Map 67 Block 1), Mashpee, MA. (Owner of record: <br /> Town of Mashpee.) <br /> Notice was duly given to abutters in accordance with Massachusetts General <br /> Laws Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication in The Mashpee Enterprise, a <br /> newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Mashpee, on December 22 and <br /> December 29, 1998, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof <br /> A Public Hearing was held on the Petition at the Mashpee Town Hall on <br /> Wednesday, January 13, 1999, at 7:30 P.M., at which time the following members of the <br /> Board of Appeals were present and acting throughout: Edward M. Govoni, James M. <br /> Dorgan and Richard T. Guerrera. <br /> This Decision is issued by the Mashpee Board of Appeals pursuant to the <br /> provisions of Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 40A, Section 9 and the Town of <br /> Mashpee Zoning By-laws. <br /> Mr. Walter Yarosh, architect for the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod,Inc., <br /> represented the applicant and stated that the proposed site is between the Fire Station and <br /> the Police Station. He informed the Board that there will be an outside basketball court, <br /> which will be flooded and used as a skating area in the winter time. The proposed <br /> building is a 9,900 square-foot structure. The interior of the building will have a <br /> gymnasium similar to a high school gymnasium. The Club will have computer rooms, <br /> arts and crafts rooms, a small kitchen, a teen room center and a general game and activity <br /> room. Mr. Yarosh stated that Design Review has seen the plans and has suggested minor <br /> landscape changes. <br /> Board members of the Boys& Girls Club and the landscape architect a]so <br /> attended the meeting to answer any questions. <br /> 1W. Govoni and Mr. Nelson stated that they were impressed by the building <br /> design. Mr. Govoni stated that the center has been funded by donations and indicated that <br /> there may be a need to enlarge the building sometime in the future. <br />
