HALF TIDE MARINA, INC.
FROG POND CLOSE
P.O. BOX 1529
MASHPEE MASSACHUSETTS 02649
508-477-2681
FAX 508-477-2087
June 28, 1996
Board of Appeals
16 Great Neck Road
Mashpee. MA 02649
Dear Sir or Madam:
We are applying for a Special Permit for open lot storage of boats in
Lot 23 on Industrial Drive. This will be a passive use of the property,
with no sales or service conducted on the premises.
A recent newspaper article suggest there is concern about possible
ground water pollution from industrial uses in the area. Our use should
not result in any leakage or contamination of the ground in any way.
There will be no washing, painting, scraping or other work of any
nature performed on any boats on the premises.
All boats stored on the lot will be covered, and winter storage boats
will be professionally shrink wrapped. All boats so stored will be modern,
constructed of fiberglass-plastic with aluminum gas tanks which do not
corrode. The gas tanks are contained within the fiberglass hull of each
boat, so that in the unlikely event of a tank leak, it will leak into the hull,
not onto the ground. We will not accept wooden boats for storage. We
will monitor the lot with a walk through inspection at least as often as
every other day whenever boats are stored there.
We have been in business for over fifteen years and have never had a
boat that we have stored leak onto the ground.
The lot will be fenced, and the entrance gate will be kept locked. We
intend to plant trees at the front and back of the lot, so that it will have
an attractive appearance.
I hope this addresses the matters you may be most concerned
with. I will be happy to answer all questions you may have.
cY7o s,
co n Pres. <
