•
MASHPEE FIRE & RESCUE DEPARTMENT
99 Nathan Ellis Highway, Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
508-539-1454 FAX 508-539-1453
December 28, 1994
John J. Friel, Clerk
Mashpee Board of Appeals
16 Great Neck Road
Mashpee, MA 02649
Dear Mr. Friel:
The purpose of this correspondence is to go on record with the Board in opposition to the
request of Ronald J. Kurker regarding his request for a variance from Section 174-32 of
the Town's Zoning By-laws.
I would not be opposed to the granting of said variance if, at a minimum the section of the
none conforming roadway between the proposed structure and Great Neck Road be
upgraded to an approved all weather surface as defined in an August 1994 memo to the
Planning Board from Charles Rowley, PE,RLS. (attached).
Due to the fact that this By-law exists to protect the public in times of fire, I would offer as
an alternative to the all weather surface road way, that as a condition of the variance, the.
applicant be required to install a residential fire suppression sprinkler system (as defined in
NFPA 13R).
• If any questions arise pertaining to the above recommendations it is my request that the
Board take this matter under advisement and request me to meet with the board as to
provide any additional information.
•
It is my request that this letter be read into the minutes as to record my objection and
possible alternatives.
'
Since r
er . aker
Fire Chief
"working to improve the quality of life in our community"
