Mr. Fudala stated that based upon the analysis prepared by <br /> Mt. Auburn, the Goals and Objectives outlined by the Planning <br /> 111114 Board and the community, a series of policies have been <br /> � recommended for the Town as part of the action plan, which <br /> Al 1, consists of a set of policies, recommendations and short-term <br />' ) J' l �, recommendations. The following are some of the recommended <br /> policies addressed by Mr. Fudala: <br /> Support of the finfishing and shellfishing industries, <br /> including existing and new aquacultural enterprises, while <br />, �- ensuring that natural resources and environmental and visual <br /> quality are preserved and that conflicts with recreational uses <br /> are minimized. (shellfishing being a traditional industry <br /> providing appropriate jobs for Mashpee) . <br /> 4 411 Resource-based economically productive areas, including <br /> oil1' ` properly managed cranberry bogs and other agricultural land, <br /> ® harbors, fishing grounds and spawning areas, shellfish beds and <br /> recreational areas should be maintained specifically for those <br /> uses. (The key in the Economic Development Plan is developing <br /> our economy without damaging the environment. ) <br />+ , To encourage tourist-related businesses and activities that <br /> provide low-impact outdoor recreational use of our natural areas, <br /> enhance the natural and cultural qualities of the Town and <br /> promote year-round economic activity. (The Green Tourism <br /> + �V Program, Boch Center. ) <br /> jw` 41ij� To work with the Wampanoag Community to improve local <br /> economic conditions and to support tribal-based economic <br /> development activities. (The Tribal Council has an Economic <br /> Development officer; Mashpee Corridor tourist related proposal. ) <br /> To maintain clear and straightforward approval procedures <br /> JJI � d�� for new businesses while ensuring that all applicable regulations <br /> are complied with and that Mashpee' s character and environment <br /> are properly Protected. (Simplify and clarify approval <br /> y A procedures. ) <br /> 0 To ensure the commercial and industrial developments do not <br /> adversely affect traffic facilities, water supply and quality, <br /> Town services, Town finances, the visual environment or our <br /> Nti,�A)l natural resources.
