Coalition
Chairwoman explained the Coalition is a collection of all Committees that deal with
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across Cape Cod and the South Shore. A valued
member who represents No Place for Hate in Barnstable, is presenting on Transgender
101 tomorrow, 1/19 at 3:00p.m. The Zoom link invitation has been disseminated to MIDC.
2. Column
Mr. Kupferman wrote an article about Martin Luther King Jr. He is not giving himself enough
time to follow up with people. He would like everyone to think about what types of columns
they would like to see in the future. Mr. Kupferman will take ideas. His thoughts for
February include LGBTQ issues. She put together an extensive list and asked Mr. Fand and Mr. Klein to
follow up and speak with some people who may have involvement. Without pressure, and
just inquire. Is anyone doing anything, what's going on? By looking more into this, we could
then follow up with a recommendation to the Select Board or Town Manager.
Just to summarize, one of the most telling conversations she had was with the State Traffic
Engineer for Mashpee (located in Taunton). He expressed people like to call and expect
him to do something immediately. He appreciated her understanding of the complexity of
this process. There was a significant article in the Cape Cod times that spoke about a
2
