<br />MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />February 16, 2022 7:00 P.M. <br />*Virtual/Remote Meeting* <br />Public Call-In for Comments (646) 558-8656 <br />Meeting ID: 891 8258 8414 <br />Passcode: 174070 <br /> <br />PRESENT: Virginia Scharfenberg, Mohamad Fahd, Sheryl Carberry, Lynn Harris, John Carter <br />CALL MEETING TO ORDER Chairwoman Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. <br /> <br />Meeting Minutes for December 15, 2021 and January 19, 2022 <br /> <br />Ms. Harris motioned to approve the 12/15/2021 minutes. <br />Mr. Carter seconded. <br />Vote: 3-0-0 Unanimous <br /> <br />Ms. Carberry motioned to approve the 1/19/2022 minutes. <br />Ms. Carter seconded. <br />Vote: 4-0-0 Unanimous <br />COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDENCE <br />GUEST SPEAKER – Andrea Marczely, Food Access Coordinator | Cape Cod Cooperative Extension <br />2022 new Mobile Farmers Market and potential participation of Mashpee Community Garden <br />Andrea Marczely presented plans for a Mobile Farmers Market and how the Mashpee Community Garden <br />can participate. She explained it’s a pilot program and they are testing it out, so they are open to any <br />suggestions. Ms. Carberry said she’s concerned the two-hour time slot is too short to organize and sell <br />produce. It also might not give customers enough time to get there. Ms. Scharfenberg said consistency and <br />location is important. Andrea Marczely said they have multiple avenues to advertise and promote. Ms. <br />Scharfenberg asked about packaging, like using plastic or paper bags. Andrea Marczely said they work with <br />the local towns’ health departments to make sure all permits are met as well as any other restrictions. She <br />thinks they try to use paper vs. plastic most of the time. The Committee agreed it’s an exciting concept and <br />hopes it is successful. <br /> <br /> Phone calls to current/returning gardeners and status of 2022 applications – Virginia <br />Ms. Scharfenberg said we’ve received 5 renewal applications so far. The deadline for renewals is <br />st <br />March 1 and is listed in the rules and regulations. <br />Ms. Carberry l said she spoke with John and he is planning to renew and wanted to know if he can <br />hang four nails in the shed to hang tools on. Joanne Nadeau is moving, Alison Schumacher will take <br />over her space. Ms. Carberry is renewing her plot. <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
