Explanation: An acknowledgement of land is a formal statement that recognizes and respects various Indigenous Peoples as <br />traditional stewards of the land. Land acknowledgements have already been adopted by hundreds of municipalities around the <br />world. Those increases have in turn brought about <br />large increases in property taxes. The Town's less financially fortunate property owners are feeling the financial squeeze. Other <br />towns, facing the same problem, have found a variety of solutions.
