(508) 39-1 38 <br /> MASEIPEE HISTORICAL COMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting— July 7, 2022 <br /> Mashpee Historical Commission Meeting was called to order by Richard DeSorgher at <br /> 4:10pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Richard DeSorgher, Brian Hyde, Rosemary Burns Love, and <br /> Nancy Soderberg. Joan Tavares-Avant telephoned in. Ava Costello and Brian Weeden <br /> were not present. <br /> Guests Present: John Cotton, Select Board Liaison, and Sam Drysdale, Mashpee <br /> Enterprise <br /> Richard asked about the official way of handling our business with the Town. John <br /> Cotton answered by saying that the responsibilities of each Select Board member <br /> include being the liaison to several commissions, and they respond when requested to, <br /> including attend meetings. But, we can always ask questions directly to the Assistant <br /> Town Manager or the Town Manager, if it seems appropriate to do so <br /> Richard discussed his interest in putting up signs to identify the four rivers in Mashpee: <br /> Mashpee River, Santuit River, Quashnet River, and the Childs River. He wanted to <br /> know what are the rules pertaining to signs, and John answered that several Town <br /> Boards would be involved. He would like to see a formal plan that the Commission has <br /> agreed upon, and then we would work out the details with DPW and Conservation and <br /> Wayne Taylor, the Assistant Town Manager. John suggested that we include a photo of <br /> the proposed sign with the plan which would be helpful. <br /> John also asked about the progress of the Signage Project. Ava Costello who has been <br /> working on the project was not present to discuss the project because she was attend- <br /> ing a funeral. <br /> John discussed Richard's request to add the air conditioning unit to the school house, <br /> and the considerable cost. He understood why it was necessary after listening to <br /> Richard's presentation at the Town Meeting. Richard said it had been installed and was <br /> working nicely, just in time for summer's very hot weather ahead. <br /> Richard informed us that he had put an ad in the Mashpee Enterprise for a docent for <br /> the schoolhouse, and Pedro Carrasquilio had responded.
