6 Greatr/i/North <br />Mashpee, Massachusetts02649 <br />Telephone -,/' <br />MASIHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br />Minutes of Meeting — December 9, 2021 <br />Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava Costello, Chair, at <br />4:04 pm. <br />Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Richard DeSorgher, Nancy Soderberg. <br />Rosemary Burns Love and Joan Tavares -Avant both telephoned in <br />Commissioner not Present: Brian Hyde and Brian Weeden <br />Ava Costello made a motion that the Minutes from October 21st meeting be approved, <br />and it was seconded by.Rosemary. <br />Requesting CPC Funds <br />The first request is for $42,338 for Lakewood Cemetery. Catherine said they would <br />begin with surveying the area. In addition, tree removal would be necessary because <br />the late October nor'Easter took down several trees which now have to be removed. <br />She added a request for funding stump grinding. Also, new fencing is going to be done. <br />It will be the same as the black fencing that surrounds the Liberty Tree in the <br />Community Park. Richard said they would be fencing other cemeteries and keeping the <br />fencing all the same. Other funds were requested for landscaping and for cleaning and <br />resetting stones. Catherine requested an additional 10% in contingency funds. The <br />CPC will -be meeting in January to vote, and then we will hear about these requests <br />being approved. Rosemary notified us about MA Historical Form E which can be filed <br />for State Funding for cemeteries. Richard will check with Sarah Korjeff on that. <br />Veterans Monument <br />Richard and Ava had met with Wayne Taylor and Catherine in a zoom meeting. <br />Catherine has contacted a company in Vermont about our monument. Funds requested <br />in the amount of $86,000 will cover the all granite monument, and the engraving the 253 <br />names on the monument, and other engraving, including the new Town Seal. The cost <br />for delivery from Vermont is $28,000. Catherine added an additional request of 25% in <br />contingency funds. <br />
