Also present:
Ashley Fisher, Bob Tomiano
Absent: Ken Bates
Minutes:
The Following minutes were approved: The regular session of Tuesday July 12, 2022
Motion to Approve made by Gregg Fraser, seconded by Stephen Mone and unanimously
approved by all Commission members present.
A-PaW Unform tign essi, ns:
Stephen Mone formally introduced Bob Tomiano as the newly appointed Harbormaster.
Congratulations were extended by all present to Bob.
It was announced by Stephen that Al Wickel has resigned his position on the Waterways
Commission.
Review...of..WaterwaysmvCharter: Stephen reviewed and reiterated the role of the Commission to
provide advice to the Select Board with recommendations assisting them with concerns
dealing with our waterways. And to assist the Harbormaster in matters such as aids to
navigation and dredging. He emphasized that our role is advisory and not operational.
A question came forward about any position we might have on the dredging of the Mashpee
River. It was agreed that this was not an idea or project that would fall under matters pertinent
to the Commission.
The discussion continued around the potential to apply for grants for dredging projects that
could have an impact on driving economic growth. Ashly noted that the funding we have
received for the Harbor Managment Plan includes a feasibility study for the dredging of
Ockway Bay and the possibility of a Town marina. Ashly noted that the Town of Mashpee has
no transient moorings to attract boaters to our waters. Ashley also noted that we do not have
any restroom facilities at our ramps and only limited pump out capabilities for Waquoit and
Popponesset Bays. All are detriments to attracting boaters and keeping our waters clean.
Communications&,,,Corres ondence:
None received
Old__Busness
Dinghy Selection Process: There was a quick review of the process and a reconfirmation that
there will be only one dinghy tie up spot per household on the Seconsett Causeway and not
one tie up per mooring issued. A household may have multiple moorings but not multiple tie up
