Brian Weeden and Richard DeSorgher were not present, and Joan
Tavares-Avant was not able to call in.
Guest Present: Dennis Balzarini, Mashpee Historic District Commissioner.
Brian Hyde proposed that we approve the Minutes from March 24th, June 2"d, July 7t"
and the motion was seconded by Ava Costello, and approved unanimously.
Commissioner Reports
Brian Hyde stated that a Volunteer Form is probably available over at the Town Hall,
and he will check on it. We are proposing to file one for Pedro Carrasquillo who has
been volunteering as a docent/School Master for the One-Room Schoolhouse this
summer. Nancy has heard Pedro perform, and she stated that he was very good, and
she felt very comfortable having him working with us.
Ava reported that she had emailed Wayne Taylor about her work on the Signage
Project, and she informed us about all the stages of editing that she has been doing.
She is hopeful to have something to present to the Commission later this year.
Ann reported on the final details of refreshments for our Award Celebration to be held
on Sunday, August 21st. We are planning to purchase a cake from Roche Bros and an
Ice Cream cake from Polar Caves, if possible. Most of the other details have been
done. We discussed having an alternate location — Mashpee Town Hall — in case of
inclement weather. We discussed the necessary marking off of the parking lot for our
guests. We discussed singing Mashpee Will Shine Tonight, and Rosemary reminded
us that Samuel Godfrey was the first person to come up with that statement. It was the
Mashpee Rally Song, c1930s, and was transcribed by Carol Lopez in 1995. We
discussed the procedure of updating our Historic Preservation Awards plaque. Richard
will assist with this. We discussed whether or not to list the seven-member Town Seal
Committee on the plaque, or just the Committee.
