NNOMENum
Mashpee - Wakeby Lake Management
Committee
October 25, 2022
7:00 PM
. . . . . ........ ........... . .......... _ . . . . .......Maee Town Hall
Meeting called by: Debi McManus
Type of meeting: Monthly
Secretary Barbara B. Nichols
Attendees: Members: Donald MacDonald, Barbara Nichols, Paul Bibo,
Guests:
The minutes of the September 27, 2022 meeting were accepted as written after a motion by Don
MacDonald and second by Paul Bibo.
Agenda topics
[Agenda topic 1] Lake level/ River outflow
Discussion: Debi did the lake measurements on September 2 nd and 15"'. Both times the levels were 55.2
feet above sea level. There were 10 inches of water flowing over the board on the 2 nd and 12.5 inches
on the 15th. There were 8 inches of water in the stream by the stairs on the 2 nd of this month and 9.5
inches on the, 15th. Barbara measured 9.2 inches of water in her rain gauge from mid -September to mid -
October.
DPW installed the new metal gauge, obtained by Drew in Conservation, on October 12, however the
numbers do not correlate with the old gauge. It read 10.5 at 55.2 feet above sea level and the old gauge
read 36 at that level. Don Macdonald will email Catherine Laurent about the lack of correlation of the old
and new gauges. Drew also cut back the brush along the path to the cage the first week of October.
. .......... ..... . . ..... . .. ... . .....
Conclusions: The lake level has increased to 55.2 with more precipitation. The new gauge is installed but
does not correlate with the old one.
[Agenda topic 2] M W Lake, Study Update
Discussion: The study being done by Brian Howes at UMass Dartmouth is underway.
