It was stated that moving forward, Ms. Fisher will be in contact with other growers. She was able to
secure a large order from Clam Daddy, based in New Jersey of 2.5 million. Clam Daddy is cheaper than
ARC by $4/per thousand for larger animals and sooner delivery.
For this next year we have a total of 7.5 million quahogs and 1 million oysters on order.
NEW BUSINESS:
2013 CPC Funds Expended.
Ms. Fisher stated that she was informed that there was a remainder of roughly $6,000 in CPC funds from
2013. It was used to purchase 29 additional trays that can be used for both oysters and quahogs.
2. Shellfish Regulation Clarification — Warden vs. Constable.
Ms. Fisher reported that according to M.G.L. Chapter 130, Section 98 it is stated that each Town must
appoint a Shellfish Constable or Deputy Shellfish Constable. The Rules and Regulations as they were
previously approved make reference to "Shellfish Warden". The Rules and Regulations will be updated
to read "Shellfish Constable".
3. New Aquaculture Interests.
It was stated that letters of interest are currently being accepted. There are 3, possibly 4 interested parties,
all of which come from fishing backgrounds.
Ms. Fisher stated that The Fundamentals of Shell Fishing course is scheduled to begin in January and all
applicants will be required to take the course.
Mr. Pocknett stated that the Tribe has available funds and resources to assist the Town as a joint
venture/partnership.
Mr. Avis express gratitude for the generous support from the Tribe with volunteering their time to help
out.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS
Mr. Avis reported that the past month has been very busy on the Island. He stated that they've gotten
through 5 of the 8 rows out there. Again, with the assistance of the Tribe.
Mr. Avis stated that they opened November I st in Ockway Bay and close to 40 thousand oysters and trays
were dropped to the right of the ramp.
He's been working closely with DMF to open Mashpee Neck and they finally got the green light last
weekend. Oysters will be taken from Mashpee River and relocated to Mashpee Neck Landing.
Leo from AmeriCorps volunteers every Wednesday. He's been working on water quality initiatives and is
also working on updating the volunteer flyer as well as the Safe Shell Fish Handling brochure.
ARC came and removed the FLUPSY from Great River and it is now in Fairhaven for repair.
