SHELLFISH COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> JANUARY 10, 2023 —6:OOPM <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL— 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br /> WAQU01T MEETING ROOM <br /> PRESENT: Chair Peter Thomas, Co-Chair Richard Cook,Bill Holmes, Daryl Christensen, <br /> Jaime Pachico <br /> OTHER ANTENDEES: Director of Natural Resources, Ashley Fisher <br /> Shellfish Constable, Chris Avis <br /> ABSENT: Buddy Pocknett <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Thomas called the meeting to order in Open Session in the <br /> Waquoit Meeting Room at 6:OOPM. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time. <br /> MINUTES: Discussion and approval of the December 13, 2022 Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes. <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Holmes to accept the December 13, 2022 Shellfish Commission Meeting <br /> minutes as written. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Christensen. <br /> Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Chair Thomas took a moment to congratulate and welcome Chris Avis on his appointment as the Town of <br /> Mashpee Shellfish Constable, stating that he is most deserving of the position and is an extremely hard <br /> worker. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> 1. 2023 Seed Order Update. <br /> Ashley Fisher stated that we were confirmed by the ARC to be receiving 5 million R4, 5mm quahogs and <br /> 500 thousand oysters and will also be receiving 500 thousand larger oysters from Cape Cod Oyster. <br /> Also on the order is 2.5 million animals from an outside entity coming from a supplier in New Jersey. <br /> She stated that,right now, she is waiting for the lowest bid from either Clam Daddy or Bay Farm and <br /> could potentially go with both to see how the animals do. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> 1. Aquaculture Lease Application—Waquoit Bay by Jaime Pachico. <br /> Mr. Pachico made a presentation with regard to his plan to request leasing al.9 acre parcel in Waquoit <br /> Bay for aquaculture purposes. <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Christensen to support Jaime Pachico's Aquaculture Application. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Holmes. <br /> Motion passed by Unanimous Consent. <br /> 1 <br />
