SHELLFISH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 10, 2023 —6:OOPM MASHPEE TOWN HALL— 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH WAQU01T MEETING ROOM PRESENT: Chair Peter Thomas, Co-Chair Richard Cook,Bill Holmes, Daryl Christensen, Jaime Pachico OTHER ANTENDEES: Director of Natural Resources, Ashley Fisher Shellfish Constable, Chris Avis ABSENT: Buddy Pocknett CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Thomas called the meeting to order in Open Session in the Waquoit Meeting Room at 6:OOPM. PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time. MINUTES: Discussion and approval of the December 13, 2022 Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes. A motion was made by Mr. Holmes to accept the December 13, 2022 Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes as written. Motion seconded by Mr. Christensen. Motion passed by unanimous consent. COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Chair Thomas took a moment to congratulate and welcome Chris Avis on his appointment as the Town of Mashpee Shellfish Constable, stating that he is most deserving of the position and is an extremely hard worker. OLD BUSINESS: 1. 2023 Seed Order Update. Ashley Fisher stated that we were confirmed by the ARC to be receiving 5 million R4, 5mm quahogs and 500 thousand oysters and will also be receiving 500 thousand larger oysters from Cape Cod Oyster. Also on the order is 2.5 million animals from an outside entity coming from a supplier in New Jersey. She stated that,right now, she is waiting for the lowest bid from either Clam Daddy or Bay Farm and could potentially go with both to see how the animals do. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Aquaculture Lease Application—Waquoit Bay by Jaime Pachico. Mr. Pachico made a presentation with regard to his plan to request leasing al.9 acre parcel in Waquoit Bay for aquaculture purposes. A motion was made by Mr. Christensen to support Jaime Pachico's Aquaculture Application. Motion seconded by Mr. Holmes. Motion passed by Unanimous Consent. 1
