Mrs. Sprout asked if there will be a lift station at Sea Oaks and Mr. Jack responded that there will not be.
She then asked if the residents of Sea Oaks will have the ability to bid the job out to private contractors as
opposed to the Town paying union wage. Mr. Jack stated that the options were presented in the past and it
was agreed by the residents that the Town would do it. It was also stated that moving forward with
subsequent Phases the private communities will also have to choose how they want to proceed.
2. Project Construction Update.
Mr. Jack gave his update on the project stating that work is continuing on the 8" main installation on Sewell
Drive. They've installed 334' of main and 2 manholes. The service lateral crew has started to install laterals to
the property line on Carleton and will be moving to Sewell after they are done on Carleton. The main
installation for Sea Oaks will commence in February.
The collection system South area work started in the Simon Narrows Road area on January Yd. Key manholes
have been installed on Mashpee Neck Road. 500' out of 1000' of main has already been installed.
Falmouth Road work will start mid-March. There is a very small time frame with Massachusetts DOT to do
work on Falmouth Road (Rte. 28). The work will take 2 to 2 % months.
Most of the water resource recovery facility work is earth moving. Some of the materials are on-site.
Meredith Harris asked if there has been any supply chain issues and Mr. Jack said there has been some delay
in deliveries of materials. He stated that lead times on equipment is long.
3. Discussion- Potential Change Orders.
Meredith Harris asked for clarification on the Notice of Project Change for future Phases of the project.
Mr. Jack stated that the process is underway and he expects to have some information within the next week.
He stated that the Commission should have some idea of what the rephrasing will look like in the summer
months. He will begin to give presentations at that time. The process will take until at least the end of the
year. Then it will be time to go into a design which takes Town Meeting and funding to move forward with
design. After that it will have to go into the watershed permit aspect based on the Commission findings and
decisions provided the State promulgates their regulations.
4. Great Neck Road Complexes.
It was stated that there are a total of 246 units in Wind Chime, Sea Mist and Sandalwood.
Mr. Jack stated that area is part of Phase 2 planning and its break out. He said that it's important to take these
complexes into consideration but, that he has looked at them and they have different issues with their
wastewater permits. Some are good and some are not so good, as far as their efficacy at the treatment level.
It translates into wastewater flow and demand.
Correspondence:
Chair Smith read a letter of interest he received from Erin Copeland to join the Sewer Commission. She is also
on the Conservation Commission.
Chair Smith made a motion to agree to interview Erin Copeland at the next Sewer Commission meeting.
Motion seconded Mr. Lyons.
Motion passed by unanimous consent.
2
