account for the distance from SAS. Mr. Harrington states that while there isn't issue with
distance from the house, there may be an issue with distance from the abutter.
Mr. Harrington commented that a deed restriction is required as the SAS is built for less than 330
gpd. Mr. Baumgaertal asked Mr. Harrington for clarification on ground water distance. There is a
note to confirm ground water in the field but Mr. Harrington was not comfortable with another
1.5 feet down. He stated that groundwater will be closer and the required 5' will not be
available. A monitoring well shall be installed as the proposed SAS is within 300' of tidal
influence. Groundwater in the area has been found at 0.8 NAVD. Mr. Harrington asked Mr. Roux
if a pipe in the basement could be raised. Mr. Roux confirmed that there is room to move the
pipe in the basement. Mr. Harrington stated that he would feel more comfortable with .8 NAVD
if the pipe is raised. Mr. Harrington recommended this be continued until groundwater can be
established.
There being no further comments or discussion, Ernest Virgilio motioned to continue until
groundwater can be established. Motioned seconded by Kripani Patel. Roll call vote: Ernest
Virgilio (yes); Kripani Patel (yes); Brian Baumgaertel (yes) VOTE: Unanimous (3-0)
4. Review of Commercial Site and Septic Plan—413 Nathan Ellis Highway. Mr. Harrington
commented the plan is for a proposed Sherwin Williams paint store at 413 Nathan Ellis Highway.
The proposed system is 1000 gallon tank, a D-box inside of a manhole. The reserve and primary
trench are proposed to be constructed just outside of the parking area. Sam Malafronte,
Engineer, stated his name for the record. Mr. Malafronte showed the Board his plan and
commented that his client wants to redevelop the site and put up 4000 square foot Sherwin
Williams. Mr. Harrington commented that the vents should not be tied together, they should be
separate so there isn't any flow from one to the other. Mr. Harrington asked why Mr. Malafronte
choose a 1000 gallon tank where 1500 gallon two compartment is typical for a non-single family
home. Mr. Malafronte stated that he could accommodate. Mr. Harrington asked about the
drainage and standing water. Mr. Harrington recommended a catch basin at the bottom to
eliminate the possibility of standing water for enough time to breed mosquitos.
There being no further comments or discussion, Ernest Virgilio motioned to approved the
commercial site and septic plan for 413 Nathan Ellis Highway with the following conditions; 1.
Separation of vents 2. Change from 1000 gallon to 1500 gallon with two chamber and H2O, and 3.
Adding the catch basin to the plan. Motioned seconded by Kripani Patel.
