SHELLFISH COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> FEBRUARY 14, 2023 —6:OOPM <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL— 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br /> WAQU01T MEETING ROOM <br /> PRESENT: Chair Peter Thomas, Bill Holmes, Daryl Christensen, Buddy Pocknett <br /> OTHER ANTENDEES: Shellfish Constable, Chris Avis <br /> ABSENT: Co-Chair,Dick Cook, Jaime Pachico <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Thomas called the meeting to order in Open Session in the <br /> Waquoit Meeting Room at 6:OOPM. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time. <br /> MINUTES: Discussion and approval of the January 10, 2023 Shellfish Commission Meeting minutes. <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Holmes to accept the January 10,2023 Shellfish Commission Meeting <br /> minutes as written. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Christensen. <br /> Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: None at this time. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> 1. Staffing update on the Water Quality Technician and Natural Resources Officer open positions. <br /> Mr. Avis stated that Tyler Grady,who was a former seasonal worker, was hired as the Shellfish Water <br /> Quality Technician. He started at the end of January. <br /> There were two applicants for the Natural Resources Officer position and they are currently being <br /> processed. <br /> 2. Shellfish Mitigation: Update on 3 Pending Assessments. <br /> Mr. Avis reported that 411 Monomoscoy Rd. and 28 Quaker Run have moved forward and have been <br /> signed off by Conservation. He stated that both have active areas for quahogs, soft shell clams and <br /> scallops. Mitigation fees total$16,603.01 to the Shellfish Propagation fund. <br /> 3. Harbor Management Committee: Status Update. <br /> It was stated that the Harbor Management Committee has been formed and will be meeting once a month <br /> beginning on March 11, 2023 at the Mashpee Public Library from 10:00am— 12:00pm. A flyer <br /> announcing the meeting is in process and, Chris stated that a website is currently being developed. <br /> The Members of the Committee include, Chris Avis, Dale Oakley from the Tribe,Dick Noonan of the <br /> Waterways Commission, Drew McManus-Mashpee Conservation Agent, Evan Lehrer-Mashpee Town <br /> Planner,Ashley Fisher-Director of Natural Resources and Robert Tomaino-Harbormaster . <br /> 1 <br />
