Mr. Solien presented this request to the Beard in the form <br /> of a letter. The Chairman read said letter for the information <br /> of the Board and members of the public: "Dear Board, the Boch <br /> Center for the Performing Arts recently began work on the design, <br /> development and construction documentation of Phase 1 of the <br /> proposed facility in order that we may engineer the site <br /> facility' s parking, waste water, storm water, etc. utilities in <br /> accordance with standards and methods preferred by the Planning <br /> Board. We request the opportunity to meet with. Charles Rowley <br /> to discuss the project and its preliminary recommendations, with <br /> your permission, Joe Bromel from Lufrane Henry and 1 hope to meet <br /> with Mr. Rowley and walk the site during the week of September <br /> 2nd through the 6th. 11 <br /> Tom Fudala suggested the Board have a preliminary viewing <br /> of the Boch Center Project . The Chairman recognized T.K. <br /> Thompson for this purpose. <br /> . Thompson made reference to sic presentation drawings, <br /> entitled, Back Center for the Performing Arts-Graham Cund <br /> Architects . <br /> Mr. Thompson said he anticipated a twelve-fourteen (12-14) <br /> month building process, with an expected opening in the summer <br /> of 1998 . The project comprises about eight (8) acres, including <br /> all parking, buildings, The Meadow, Stage. The facility includes <br /> eight hundred-fifty (850) seats. Included are Stage, outdoor <br /> Meadow, Administration Building and a Design and Production <br /> Center (18 .8 million dollars) . <br /> Phase 2 to include the Community Center and Meadow summer <br /> stage, approximately 15, 000 square ft. with parking for 250 cars. <br /> Capacity for the Meadow is for not more than two thousand (2, 000) <br /> people with a fixed seating area for eight (800) hundred; lawn <br /> seating for twelve (1200) maximum. Community meeting space of <br /> twenty-four (2400) hundred square ft. which will be available <br /> for public use. There being one thousand (1, 000) square <br /> feet on the lower level to be used as a small catering kitchen.. <br /> Tom Fudala made a specific point regarding the permitting <br /> process, whether to permit the first section only, or to permit <br /> the complete project as a phased project to be completed within <br /> the next ten (10) years.. <br /> Robert Covoni expressed his concern for the parking issue. <br /> Tom Fudala stated the by-law for the Meadow area would <br /> permit five (500) hundred parking spaces. The Applicant is <br /> proposing two hundred fifty (250) on site spaces; and an off <br /> site parking area utilizing shuttle buses onto the location. <br /> (There was some discussion as to the uses of the Center. <br /> summer uses for the Stage, audience size variations, public uses, <br /> -3- <br />
