NEW BUSINESS: <br /> 1. New Application for Aquaculture Grant by John Quiterio. <br /> Mr. Quiterio gave a presentation with regard to his Aquaculture Grant Application for the northern part of <br /> the Great River. <br /> He stated that he has been a Mashpee resident for seven years and was previously employed by Cape Cod <br /> Oyster for nineteen years. He went on to say that oyster farming has been his passion for the past <br /> nineteen years and would like to continue doing it on his own and feels he would be a very good asset to <br /> the Town of Mashpee due to his experience in the oyster farming industry. <br /> There was one abutter that responded negatively to the letter that went out to seven homeowners that are <br /> considered abutters. <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Christensen to accept Mr. Quiterio's application for an Aquaculture Grant. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Holmes. <br /> Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> 2. Shellfish Constable's Report. <br /> Mr. Avis gave his monthly update. He stated that all of the boats are in working order and are all <br /> currently in the water. <br /> Mr. Avis stated that anyone harvesting should be sure to only take oysters that are tightly closed. The <br /> Department is waiting on the results of pathology testing on quahogs to come back from URI. <br /> It was stated that they attended the MSOA annual convention. Mr. Avis said that the DMF will continue <br /> to monitor where growers are getting their ice based on the FDA requiring that the water be tested and <br /> deemed safe and if it is coming from a Municipality water supply or a well. It was recommended that <br /> people utilize Seagrant.com as a resource for information and research. <br /> Mr. Avis said that they continue to work on the Harbor Management Plan as well as a website. The first <br /> public comment meeting was on March 11 t"with over 50 people attending. <br /> The ARC will have two FLUPSEY docks in Hamblin Pond and one in Jelin Pond. <br /> Jonathan Fleming has applied for an Aquaculture Grant in Jelin Pond and they're awaiting his application. <br /> Cape Cod Oyster will have a two acre plot in Hamblin Pond to grow for education and research purposes <br /> under the Town's propagation permit. Meaning,the Town maintains the right to cease and desist at any <br /> time. <br /> ADDITIONAL TOPICS <br /> None at this time. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> 2 <br />
