Mashpee Charter Review Committee <br /> Minutes—May 30, 2023 Meeting <br /> Agenda Item: Meeting convened in Open Session at 6:30 pm by John Miller <br /> Attendance: Greg McKelvey,John Miller, Carol Sherman, Cathy Lewis, Darlene Furbush, <br /> Mary Waygan and Don Myers in attendance. David Weeden absent. <br /> Agenda item: Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Agenda item: Moment of Silence <br /> Agenda item: Public Comment—None <br /> Agenda item: Approval of draft minutes for the 5/23/23 meeting. <br /> • Motion by Carol Sherman, second by Greg McKelvey—approved unanimously except with <br /> Don Myers abstaining. <br /> Agenda item: Old Business <br /> Legal Counsel: <br /> • A packet with information on 6 law firms with municipal resources was provided by Rodney <br /> Collins to the committee members. <br /> • There was discussion about the scope of legal work required. Discussion ranged from a <br /> comprehensive review of the Charter to addressing specific legal questions the Committee <br /> may have. <br /> • Motion by Don Myers to table legal counsel selection to next meeting, second by Rodney <br /> Collins—approved unanimously. <br /> Status of Website. <br /> • There was discussion about using a Town website as a repository for Charter Review <br /> Committee materials. <br /> • Rodney Collins offered to coordinate having the website setup and have any email for the <br /> Charter Review Committee forwarded to the Chair. <br /> • Qha_L 2_�U2 u_ _m_ slh.. ee. ov email address to be used for the website. <br /> • Town IT staff will be responsible for maintaining the Charter Review website. <br /> • There was general discussion on what material should be posted on the website. <br /> Agenda item: New Business <br /> Charter Article 2 Review <br /> • After completing her review, Darlene Furbush had no specific changes to Article 2. <br /> ➢ Noted there is a reference in Article 202 to an Article 3.10 that does not exist <br /> • The Chair then led the Committee through a review and discussion on Article 2 <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br />
