' U m Town Of Mashpee Historic District Commission
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
A woman from public comment brought to the attention of the Commission that the property is a
commercial building located within an association and therefore is held to the standard of the
architectural integrity clause within the master deed. The woman added that the addition of any signage
or similar construction to common areas requires a 75%vote by the association. Mr. Hyde stated that
the association acts as a different regulatory board from this Commission and that they were here today
to discuss the fitness of the appropriateness in the Historic District. The woman from public comment
responded that these signs still need to go before the Board of Trustees and due to the structural
integrity of the association, she wants to clarify that the property owners cannot purchase a sign prior to
its approval. Mr. Lehrer thanked the woman for bringing this to the attention of the Commission and
stated that the Commission has approved numerous signs in this District before and has not been made
aware of this regulation. Mr. Lehrer stated that the Commission does not have the authority to enforce
the architectural regulations on behalf of the association.
MOTION: Mr. Balzarini made a motion to approve this Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Mills
seconded the motion.All voted unanimously.
Public Hearing
Applicant: Diana Ruiz, Executive Director, Native Land Conservancy
Location: 2B Center Street
Request: Certificate of Appropriateness
Description: The Applicant is seeking endorsement of Certificate of Appropriateness for new
commercial building signage along the rear facade facing Main Street(Route 130).
The Chair read for the record the Public Hearing Notice and request. Diana Ruiz was present to discuss
the proposal regarding the property at 2B Center St. Ms. Ruiz stated that the sign placement of the
Native Land Conservancy would be similar to that of Wildfire, with one round sign on the backside as
illustrated in the Commissioners' packets. Ms. Ruiz noted that they planned to drop down the sign so
that it aligned with the windows rather than being above them. Ms. Ruiz added that the second sign is
going to be the ladder sign, so they are asking for approval of two signs made of the same material: PVC
with vinyl.
MOTION: Mr. Balzarini made a motion to approve this Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Mills
seconded the motion.All voted unanimously.
Mr. Lehrer clarified to the Applicant from the Native Land Conservancy that they will need to obtain a
sign permit from the Building Department before installation.
Public Hearing
Applicant: Richard DeSorgher, Mashpee Historical Commission
Location: Mashpee Community Park, generally addressed as 13 Great Neck Road N (behind the
Archives Building)
Request: Certificate of Appropriateness
Description: The Applicant is seeking endorsement of a Certificate of Appropriateness for an
attached woodshed addition to the One Room Schoolhouse as well as accompanying
2
